Jesse Owens Foundation Scholarship
In honor of the values and tradition of the legendary Jesse Owens, his family and foundation are establishing the Jesse Owens Endowed Scholarship Fund and scholars program at Ohio State. Providing scholarships to students who are socio-economically disadvantaged, awards will based not just on financial need, but on each awardee’s demonstrated community service and leadership during high school or college. Future plans for the program include mentoring opportunities, lunch and dinner speakers, lectures by athletes and minority leaders, and internships with selected corporations. The Jesse Owens Foundation has chosen educational programs and scholarships as its major vehicles for creating a living memorial to Jesse, in part because of his own reliance on financial aid as an Ohio State student.
